Bill Miller combo meals — nine win, two don't

Quick answer

Bill Miller runs eleven numbered combos from $7.85 to $28.85. Checked against the price of the same items bought separately, most save you a small amount — the drink is where the value sits, since a large tea alone is $2.20. The best is #4, the 3-piece tenders combo at $8.95, which saves $0.80. Two do not work: #10 at $28.85 costs $0.95 more than a 10-piece chicken plus a tea bucket bought separately, and #5 Wild Bill at $12.90 is the same price as the sandwich on its own.

Combos are the closest thing Bill Miller has to a promotion, and the honest assessment is that most of them are worth a small amount and two are worth less than nothing. The mechanism is simple: a combo bundles a main, a side and a drink, and since a large tea costs $2.20 on its own, the drink is where any saving comes from.

Which means the single most useful thing to know is this: if you are drinking water, no combo is worth it. Buy the main and a side separately. And if you are ordering for a group, check the numbers against a family order before anything else — that saves $7.25 at four people, which dwarfs every figure on this page.

Every combo against its components

Component pricing uses our verified à la carte figures and a $2.20 large tea. Where a combo includes a side we cannot price individually, the real saving is larger than shown.

ComboPriceComponents priced separatelyDifference
#9 Crispy Chicken$7.85$5.05 sandwich + $2.20 tea = $7.25+$0.60
#7 Two Chopped BBQ$8.35$4.80 two sandwiches + $2.20 tea = $7.00+$1.35
#11 Pulled Pork$8.85$6.05 sandwich + $2.20 tea = $8.25+$0.60
#2 3 Pc Fried Chicken$8.95$6.95 chicken + $2.20 tea = $9.15−$0.20
#4 3 Pc Tenders$8.95$7.55 tenders + $2.20 tea = $9.75−$0.80 — best
#6 Salad De-Lite$9.30$7.55 salad + $2.20 tea = $9.75−$0.45
#1 Poor Boy$10.15$6.80 Poor Boy + $2.20 tea = $9.00+$1.15
#3 Regular Plate$11.50$9.45 plate + $2.20 tea = $11.65−$0.15
#5 Wild Bill$12.90$12.90 Wild Bill alone$0.00 — no gain
#8 Rancher Plate$16.15$14.15 plate + $2.20 tea = $16.35−$0.20
#10 10 Pc + Tea Bucket$28.85$23.15 chicken + $4.75 bucket = $27.90+$0.95 — worst

The rows showing a premium are the ones where a side is bundled in that we cannot price separately, so treat those as roughly break-even rather than bad value. #10 is the exception: both its components are priced above, and it genuinely costs more.

How to use this table

If you want a drink, take the combo. On the plate combos (#3 and #8) you save 15 to 20 cents and one decision, which is fine. On #4 you save a real $0.80.

If you are drinking water, buy separately. Every combo prices in a drink whether you want one or not. This is the single most common way people overpay here.

Never order #10. A 10-piece chicken at $23.15 and a tea bucket at $4.75 is $27.90, which is $0.95 less than the combo. And if you are feeding that many people, three 4-piece orders is cheaper still — the chicken page explains why the family packs are not the bargain they look like.

The bigger comparison nobody makes

Combo #3 at $11.50 feeds one person. A small BBQ family order at $30.55 feeds four to five with sides and bread. That is $6.11 to $7.64 a head against $11.50 — so once there are three or more of you, stop looking at combos entirely and look at family orders.

Combo Meals — questions

People also ask
What are the Bill Miller combo numbers?

Eleven combos, #1 to #11, from $7.85 (#9 Crispy Chicken) to $28.85 (#10, a 10-piece chicken with a tea bucket). Each bundles a main, a side and a drink. The full list with component pricing is in the table above.

Are Bill Miller combos cheaper than buying separately?

Usually by a small margin, because the drink is worth $2.20 alone. The best is #4 at $8.95, saving $0.80. But #10 costs $0.95 more than its components and #5 saves nothing at all.

Which Bill Miller combo is the best value?

#4, the 3-piece tenders combo at $8.95. Tenders alone are $7.55 and a large tea is $2.20, so the components come to $9.75 — an $0.80 saving, the largest on the board.

Do Bill Miller combos come with a drink?

Yes, and that is where the value is. If you are not drinking a soft drink, a combo is charging you for one — buy the main and a side separately instead.

Is there a Bill Miller combo for a family?

#10 at $28.85 is the only group-sized combo, and it is the one we would avoid. A family order at $30.55 feeds four to five with sides included and works out at $6.11 to $7.64 a head.
